Alaska: Senate hopeful deletes confident tweets

JUNEAU, Alaska — Tweets in which Alaska Senate hopeful Joe Miller sounded confident in his chances of winning have been removed from his Twitter feed.

Statements from Miller’s Twitter feed late Wednesday, when he was in Washington, D.C. fundraising, said he thinks he’ll “do some house hunting.” He also says he figures he should pick out office furniture and expressed appreciation for the welcome he’d received from those he called future colleagues.

The rival campaign of GOP U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who is running as a write-in candidate, labeled the tweets “hubris.”

The tweets later disappeared. Miller spokesman Randy DeSoto said they were deleted because the campaign considered them inappropriate, and said they came from a volunteer who will no longer have access to the account.
