NEW DELHI - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Wednesday alleged that the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) are creating a ruckus in the Bihar assembly to protect their leaders whose names figure in a report showing financial irregularities.

BJP spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain accused the Congress and RJD of trying to malign BJP and its ally Janata Dal-United (JD-U) in the house.

“We strongly condemn RJD and Congress for making a mockery of governance by the ruckus it has created in the house in order to malign us and our partner JD-U,” he said.

“The Congress and RJD is doing this in fear of getting exposed. Let me remind them that Buta Singh’s and Rabri Devi’s names are also in the report,” he added.

Patna High Court Tuesday ordered for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged scam of Rs.114.12 billion as per the Controller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report though the state government has appealed against the decision.

Opposition members demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who is among the 47 people named in the CAG report, but this was stoutly resisted by National Democratic Alliance members.

Bihar is three months away from assembly polls.
