Maoists

PURULIA, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Maoist leader Kishenji has called for a 48 hour Bharat Bandh starting July 7 in protest of Azad’s killing by the police in Andhra Pradesh. Reportedly Cherukuri Rajkumar alias Azad was killed in an encounter with the police at Adilabad which made the Maoists call for a 48 hour Bharat Bandh that shall affect the major districts of West Bengal where the Maoists operate.

Although the Bharat Bandh has been declared on a serious note, few emergency services have been kept off from the shutdown list. This includes Railways, milk, fire and ambulance services. Maoist leader Kishenji said that Azad used to be the Maoist spokesman who was taken into custody by the police from Nagpur when he was accompanied by Sukdeb who happens to be another prominent member of the Maoists. Azad along with Sukdev were driven to Adilabad where the cops took them out one after another.

Kishenji speaking from an undisclosed location told the media that Azad’s loss has been a severe blow to the Maoists who has heading towards Dandakaranya where he was scheduled to attend a meeting of the CPI (Maoist) central committee when the police picked him up and held him in their custody. It was also informed that some of the top leaders were to attend the meeting to talk it over Union Home Minister P Chidambaram’s plans for peace agreements with the Maoists. The Bharat Bandh shall affect all major regions of the country where the Maoists operate. If the bandh becomes a successful one then it shall be the second Bharat Bandh in the row after the July 5, Bharat Bandh which has already been declared by the ruling party.
