NAME: Julius Genachowski
BORN: Aug. 19, 1962
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from Columbia University, 1985. Graduated from Harvard Law School in 1991; served on Harvard Law Review with Barack Obama.
EXPERIENCE: Between 1985 and 1988, served as a staff member to then-Rep. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and as a staffer for the joint select committee on Iran-Contra. From 1991 to 1994, served as law clerk to Supreme Court Justices William Brennan and David Souter. From 1994 to 1997, worked in the Federal Communications Commission, including as chief counsel to Chairman Reed Hundt. From 1997 to 2005, held executive positions at IAC/InterActiveCorp, including chief of business operations and general counsel. From 2005 to 2009, served as an investor and adviser to technology companies. Appointed FCC chairman in 2009.
PERSONAL: Married, with three children.
